Conservation nonprofit, the Trust for Public Land releases their “ParkScore” rankings annually. America’s 50 largest cities ares surveyed for three factors – percentage of residents living within walking distance of a park, percentage of city area dedicated to parks and median park size. Cities are scored on a scale of 1-100 to determine ranking.
Minneapolis earned an 81.
This translates to “five park benches” on the Trust’s rating system, and is the first time a city has achieved such greatness. The top five rounded out with New York City in 2nd with a score of 73.5 and San Francisco, Sacramento and Boston tying for 3rd with a 72.5.
